More than 2,400 of this armor have been produced and gave birth to follow-up model Casspir. Buffel means buffalo. It’s built in simple structure so when it’s damaged by a mine, it can be repaired within an hour with parts already set inside.

The RG-31 Nyala is multi-purpose mine-protected vehicle based on the Mamba APC. The vehicle’s V-shaped monocoque welded steel hull and high suspension are designed to resist a blast equivalent to two TM-57 anti-tank mines detonating simultaneously.

The RG-31 has become the multi-purpose of choice of the UN and other peacekeeping and security forces. It is finding favor with nongovernmental organizations requiring a vehicle with a non-aggressive appearance to protect their personnel against the threat of landmines.

This armor is designed with adjustment of module-type structure for multi-purpose missions. It has 8 tons maximum load and 14m3 capacity. So it is able to perform transporting troops as well as special missions such as command posts, field hospitals, etc.
